Fall Semester 2001-2002 School Year

My middle school student teaching internship was with Karen White's sixth grade World Studies classes at Takoma Park Middle School.  I designed and taught Unit 4: Ancient Egypt. I also substitute taught a number of lessons in other Units on Geography, Mesopotamia, Ancient Greece, Rome, and Africa.

This internship was especially rewarding because I had the opportunity to work with a very diverse student population ranging from GT and GT/Magnet students to ESOL learners to students with multiple learning and emotional disabilities.  In addition, TPMS is my neighborhood school.  Many of my students lived on my street.  This created unique opportunities to build a rapport with students.
