4/01/03: I'm juggling 3 fics right now.
1. Editing the as-yet-untitled third fic in my "Unmoved
series".
I'm not happy with the ending. All I will share right now is
that Spike gets a job (!) and Buffy runs afoul of a brother-sister team of demon bounty hunters.
2. Writing the second chapter of "The Devil's Workshop".
Despite positive reviews, I feel like I worked myself into a bit
of a corner with some details in the first chapter.
3. Storyboarding the next chapter of "Relating to a Psychopath."
Of course, Dru is going to reclaim her pet. It's just a matter of
time.
I wrote this particular fic as a one-chapter deal, but it has grown
in popularity beyond my wildest expectations. The biggest challenge is that I really see "Relating to a Psychopath" as fitting
into S6 pretty seamlessly (i.e. I didn't write it as AU, but rather to complement the last four eps as Joss intended them.)
Anyway, the best thing about storyboarding is that I love drawing little BtVS characters. (No, you can't see them.)
I don't find it hard to work on multiple storylines at the same time. Someone said I have a
"random abstract" mind. That essentially means that I can multi-task and have a high tolerance for an untidy work area. It
also lets me read multiple texts without getting confusing and, lately, work on more than one fanfic.
The downside is that this approach lets me procrastinate (a favorite activity!). For
example, I hate editing. The second story in my "Unmoved" series should have been out of editing three or four months ago.
Instead, I worked on writing or storyboarding other fics most of the time I was supposed to be editing the last three
chapters. I finally forced myself to set everything else (including a fic I really wanted to work on) aside in order to edit
the Epilogue.
